HIV‑1 recent‑infection avidity rapid assay kit, designed to distinguish recent from long‑term HIV‑1 infection at population level and estimate HIV‑1 incidence rate in target groups. Suitable for AIDS sentinel surveillance, cross‑sectional epidemiological surveys and evaluation of intervention‑measure effectiveness.
This kit adopts the Limiting‑Antigen‑Avidity Enzyme‑Linked Immunosorbent Assay (LAg‑Avidity EIA). It detects the avidity level of anti‑HIV‑1 limiting‑antigen IgG antibodies in serum/plasma to distinguish recent HIV‑1 infection from long‑term infection at the population level, and is used to calculate the recent‑infection rate of specific populations. Compared with the conventional BED assay, the LAg‑Avidity assay is less affected by the immune status of infected individuals and viral subtypes, and features higher specificity and simple operation. It is applicable to multiple HIV‑1 subtypes. Globally, the LAg‑Avidity assay has gradually replaced the BED assay for HIV‑1 recent‑infection detection.
