This reagent employs the Indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (Indirect ELISA), coating the microplate with recombinant BVDV-P80 protein to detect anti-BVDV-P80 IgG antibodies in bovine serum or plasma. The P80 protein (i.e. NS3 protein) is a non-structural protein in the replication process of BVDV and does not exist in viral particles. It is only produced in large quantities within cells when the virus is actively replicating. Therefore, P80 antibodies are markers of active BVDV infection. This kit can effectively distinguish the antibody response caused by natural infection from that produced by vaccination (inactivated vaccines mainly induce structural protein antibodies), providing a reliable serological tool for the infection monitoring, purification plan assessment and epidemiological investigation of BVDV in cattle herds.
